History of BHTPA
Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority has been established under the ‘Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Act-2010’ with the objective of creating an investment-friendly environment and creating employment through the development and growth of high-tech industries in the country. Since its inception, the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority has been working for socio-economic development by establishing Hi-Tech Parks / Software Technology Parks / IT Training and Incubation Centers in different parts of the country to ensure employment of the country’s huge youth and create skilled human resources.
According to the administrative structure, the managing director of the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority is the Chief Executive Officer. There is an Executive Committee chaired by the Minister / Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology and a Board of Governors (BOG) chaired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister to oversee and guide the activities of the organization.

Development Activities
- Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City has been set up on 355 acres of land at Kaliakair in Gazipur. Space/land has been allotted to 39 hardware and manufacturing companies
- Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park, Jessore consists of a 15-storied Multi-Tenant Building (232,000 sft.), a 12 Storied Dormitory (48,000 sft.), and an amphitheater of the latest design and technology with world-class business facilities. Total 48 IT companies are running their business in this park
- 14 software companies and 10 startups are working in the In Janata Tower Software Technology Park. Co-space has been given to another 40 startups.
- Sylhet Electronic City is being developed under PPP model on 162.83 acres of land. The basic Infrastructure of this park is under construction by the government
- Bangabandhu Silicon City, Rajshahi is being constructed on 34 acres of land. Basic Infrastructure of this park is going on. World Bank also provides money for infrastructure development
- Sheik Kamal IT Training and Incubation Center, Natore is going on. Total 12,000 sft training space of this center will be opened for training purpose at the very beginning of 2017
